We are a small but mighty team of academics, pilots, and experts in technology and education.
InVolo began with a long layover at the San Francisco airport, where an anthropologist met a pilot.
We geeked out on our academic research, and our passion for aviation. And, course, AI.
As we talked, we realised we were both excited about what AI could do in aviation — not to replace pilots, but to help them
to make teams stronger and more resilient.
This vision is the reason we built Involo: we want to create technology that makes meaningful advancements; that empowers people; that helps create a safer and more connected world.
This goal cannot be reached in isolation. Along the way, we met outstanding researchers and experts who shared our vision.
Today, they guide our journey to safe, reliable AI — for pilots, by pilots (and some anthropological flair).

Fabio teaches anthropology in Melbourne, Australia. An award-winning author, his research focuses on the social implications of economic and technological change. As an ethnographer of aviation, Fabio led several HF studies, including on empathy in the flight deck; threat and risks in BVLOS drone operations; and decision making and non technical skills in flight training. His lab built the prototype of one the first voice-assistants for the flight deck. An expert in experiential learning, Fabio speaks 5 (or 6) languages and is known for collaborative research and adventurous cooking.
